DRILBITS International Private Limited (DBI) is a subsidiary of Driltools International FZCO, both companies are members of Wah Seong Corporation Berhad. The Drilbits plant is situated in Nashik, in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.

The plant, which produces over 600 Rock Bits a month, was first established in 1975 by Greaves Cotton Ltd in technical collaboration with Smith Tools Inc. USA, and was a pioneer in the manufacture of Tricone Rock Roller Bits in India.

It started the assembly of Tricone Rock Roller Bits (Open Bearing) from 1st October 1975, with imported Leg/Cones and Small parts (CKD) brought from Smith Tools, USA.

Thereafter, the Leg /Cones were developed with technical guidance from Smith Tools in India. Sealed Bearing bits were developed in 1987 in technical collaboration with Smith Tools. TCI Bits were developed in 1990-91. Journal Bearing Bits were developed in 1992.Various sizes of TCI Journal & Sealed-bearing bits have been developed since. In 2003, improved bearing life bits (Floating-bush Type) were developed. Drilbits continues to develop 4 to 5 new type/IADC bits every year.

Drilbits in an ISO-9000 accredited company & accredited with API certification. As a major player in India’s quest for self-sufficiency in oil, our exports have increased two fold in the last two years. Presently, Drilbits is working on the development of 17.1/2”, 6-3-5, TCI Bit and plans to add at least 5 to 6 new sizes to the existing product range. We will also produce the 8.1/2 Journal Bearing Bit with floating type Bush to enhance bearing life from 50 to 60 hrs to 80 to 90 hrs.
